My Weekend

Hello again! Since I last wrote I got a good and long night's sleep (and some much deserved and needed rest) only to wake up and start Physical Therapy where I walked up and down a staircase with my therapist and Gareth helping in preparation for the holidays when I hope to be doing that with only Gareth helping. I hope you are all getting prepared for the upcoming holidays as well as we are!
We`had a great weekend going to the museum on Saturday with Eric, Alison, Eddie (a 1 year old baby who I am trying to beat in our walking contest), Chris and Alex, then stopping on Sunday morning for breakfast at the IHop with Bill Hatcher, Chris and Alex before Gareth and I went to his parent's home in Golden for the Broncos game and to see the doggies!
I hope you can tell I am silly but not stupid. My brain may have been traumatized but it came out unaffected in terms of its intelligence!

I hope to see everyone soon! Bye y'all!

Hi Marilyn and Gareth,
If you haven't been told, Marilyn, I am Teresa Hegyi's mom. I have been doing a lot of lirking on you blog and occasionally say something, and thought it was time to speak up again. I am truly surprised by your progress and your obvious very hard work getting yourself where you are today. I love reading the comments of your visitors, too, because as good as you and Gareth do at communicating through this blog there is usually a surprise shared by one of your visitors to add to it. Like learning that you walked with a shopping cart and then with a cane. It is such awesome progress. And now you are doing steps!
Gareth you are the best support I have ever seen anyone get. And that is from someone who has gotten a lot myself and seen a lot given. I know that when you go home you will be a great second memory of how to keep progressing. I think Marilyn is working twice as hard as anyone else with your extra help. I am glad she was in such good shape when the accident occurred. :>)
I hope that you both continue to work hard, play hard and I will continue to pray hard for you both. You are inspiring.

hi marilyn,

so good to see you typing and writing your own blog entries. when you look back to the beginning, it is a lot to digest. alex and i had a great time with you and gareth this weekend. it was fun to see you bring your mocha into the museum clandestinely. and great to see the aquamarines and all of the other gems and minerals. it was good to meet alison and eric and eddie. he does seem like a very cool kid.
it makes alex and i ( and i think everyone) happy to see your sense of humor coming back again. i would imagine that those things come back a little like the walking, writing, typing and the more physical things. anyway, it is great to see your sense of humor combined with a great light-heartedness and patience that you have with yourself. and all of that with this incredible endurance and persistence with all of the therapy. to us, it seems only a matter of time until you are back 100% or more!! can't wait til the next visit to see the incredible changes you will have made by then.
you are in our thoughts,
chris and alex

Hey Mar,

It's a long-lost friend from Vandy. We sure went through some adventures on tour with the Grateful Dead in college, but nothing matches what you're fighting through right now. It has been so great to learn that your spirit and disposition are practically the same as when we first met in 1991. And I love reading that you're following the NFL especially Cutler playing in Denver. I don't think any of us ever imagined a Commodore QB in the pros. I have been thinking about you so much since Nicole and Carl shared your story. I was up at their place outside New York a few weeks back when Carl and I went to the Steelers at Jets game (the result of which is no longer a topic of discussion for Steeler supporters like Carl and I). I live near Philadelphia (again) and have been married to a wonderful woman named Rachel for just over five years. I look forward to following your progress, remaining in touch somehow and hopefully visiting you in Colo. sometime in the not-too-distant future. Until next time, I'm sending some Sunshine Daydreams to make you feel as groovy as possible.

To Gareth: We have never met but I want to say that in simply navigating this site and hearing from others, you are a very special guy who's together with a very special girl. You are both blessed to be with one another, especially at this crucial stage.

When we all meet someday, there will be great music, great scenery, great eats and most imporantly (and especially for Marilyn), great memories to last a lifetime.

Peace and Love,
Connors

hey Mar!
It was so amazing talking to you over the weekend. I am sure that you are a changed Marilyn, but it was so nice to talk the old Marilyn that I know and love! I guess you are more accurately "new and improved." I share the sentiments of chris and alex in describing your amazing humor, lightheartedness and patience- you have gained true perspective that only a scary situation can afford. Lots of Love- hope to see you soon!
