Tuesday October 30

Things are continuing to progress well. The main thing that strikes me, is how many steps that I didn't even think about being there, that are there. All the basic things we take for granted in our daily life are huge challenges for Marilyn to overcome. When we break a bone we stabilize it and wait for it to heal, but a traumatic head injury requires healing and so much work on the part of the individual. All this makes the road home seem very long but each day I see Marilyn getting better is one day closer.

I talked, actually TALKED with Mar on Monday, and she said "Hi Alison" along with lots of responses. She was totally with it. Unfortunately my cell phone reception was crappy, so it was pretty hard to hear her (plus I only had a few minutes between meetings), but it was sooooo exciting!! And Gareth said she was practicing standing too! As we say when we teach kayaking to beginners, the hardest thing anyone's ever learned is to walk. This is a long road, but Mar already seems to be on her way. One little action at a time. Hang in there, Gareth. You're patience is golden.
She might be moving to the Craig rehab center this Thursday, if all goes as planned.
Anyway, i'm so excited, and so proud of Mar, as I KNOW we ALL ARE, and thankful for Gareth and everone at her side!!
Lots of love, Alison, Eric and Eddie

More good news! Gareth, your thoughtful comments touch our hearts. And Alison's also. You remind me of when I was teaching rubella epidemic infants/toddlers to walk and talk--some folks would comment on my patience and I answered that those with the patience were the ones learning these skills as well as we could teach them....and they also worked the hardest! Our thoughts circle around you both each day...your courage and determination lift up our hearts. Michael and Barb

Go Marilyn! I can't wait to come and hang with you and Gareth on Friday. Your progress is amazing. Bernie and the kiddos are sending you hugs and kisses. Ariel loved hearing your voice on the phone this weekend. When we got home she asked when you were coming to stay with us again. I told her it would be soon. With the progress you are making everyday I am certain that it will indeed be soon :)

Much love to you and Gareth.

Love,
Rach

Gareth and Marilyn it's very inspiring to see and hear that there is so much progress in Marilyn's healing on a daily no make that an hourly basis. During my visit last week I can't remember how many times I just watched in disbelief at the super and successful effort Marilyn is expending to return to normal activity. Thank you also for the updates on Marilyn's healing, I know that means so much to her friends and your friends who can not be in Denver.
