Vision
Hello. My vision has been off since the accident, I am seeing double and my left eye also rotates one of the images. Seeing the eye doc who is placing the blame on my 3rd and 4th cranial nerve - and he will make me a left eyeglass prism that may help my extraocular muscle retrain to not rotate. I have also been somewhat self critical and my shrink told me that is quite common for brain injured patients to get self-critical so he advised me to "TEFLON-IZE" MYSELF - to get tougher during the challenging recovery. Those reading who know me well know what a self critic I am so this is a challenging time for me and my therapists are finding out the hard way! Take care and happy 2008! Marilyn

Hey Marilyn,
Thanks for sharing some of your frustrations. In the times I've seen you and talked with you I've been amazed at how accepting and patient you have been with yourself and your process toward recovery. You've been presented with a tremendous challenge and we all know you are doing your absolute best to over come it.
I’m glad to hear that the outpatient options at Craig are coming together for you. Although I’m sad you won’t be home as soon as expected, being able to continue therapy there with the same specialists, who have watched your progress and know what you need to work on is invaluable.
Keep up the good work girl! You’re getting closer every day.

I apologize for not having written sooner (I am email challenged). Just wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you! It was very exciting to read blog entries written BY you and not just about you :)
I also wanted you to know that you should be very proud of yourself for re-mastering folding clothes--some people never achieve that in the first place! Also a reminder that it IS winter, which can be tough even when you're not recovering from a brain injury. So be gentle with yourself and know that more light engery is coming soon. We can't wait to see you back in Dolores whenever you make it.

hey Mar and Gareth-
Your doc is wise in telling you to not be so critical! I was explaining your story to a friend today and in telling it from the beginning to now it seemed quite extraordinary that you have come sooooo far in such a short time! You are fighting so hard to regain your self-sufficiency when only months ago you were not even conscience! What an accomplishment just to be were you are- we are so proud of you and think of you ALL the time.
Even though we don't get a chance to talk or write as much as we would like, Please know that we are thinking of you always!
2008 will bring more challenges and even more victories!
